2012 is shaping up to be just as busy, with a series of exciting summer projects in production and planning for Edinburgh's Hogmanay 2012/13 already underway. Edinburgh's Hogmanay promises yet another world class event, confirming Edinburgh as the best New Year celebrations in the world and the 'Home of Hogmanay'. Next Up: Freedom Festival is fast becoming one of the country's leading arts and music festivals, in only four short years the event has gained a loyal following and an acclaimed reputation in presenting a programme of cutting edge music, dance, street theatre and arts. Freedom Festival has welcomed the very best musicians, performers and street theatre from across Europe. Showcasing three days of events throughout Hull city centre, featuring UK premiere performances, Mercury Music Prize nominated musicians, dance spectaculars, comedy, caberet and children's entertainment. Freedom is funded by Hull City Council, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire, Welcome to Yorkshire, Arts Council England and the private sector through the Business Friend of Freedom scheme. Arts Council England have announced that Freedom Festival has secured support for the next three years after being awarded £325,000. Janet Reuben, Chief Executive of Visit Hull and East Yorkshire said: “We are thrilled to welcome such high quality music and dance acts to Freedom. To have a Mercury Music Prize nominee for the second year running and internationally renowned street-theatre underlines Hull and East Yorkshire’s ability to host world-class festivals.”
