Unique Events produces a range of high-profile cultural events and festivals throughout Scotland, many on behalf of some of the country’s largest arts organisations, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Burns&Beyond Festival and Bloody Scotland.  

We are looking to recruit a new team of hard working, enthusiastic people who love events, and would like to play their part in delivering world-class event experiences for our audiences.

Street Events Pitch Managers – Rate £10.60 per hour plus holiday pay 

All applicants must be available to work from 03 to 28 August  

  1. Be ambassadors for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 
  2. Working to the Pitch Coordinators 
  3. Stage managing designated Street Pitches 
  4. Facilitating public safety within the event areas e.g. preventing trip hazards 
  5. Monitoring crowd levels and keeping thoroughfares open 
  6. Monitoring sound levels of performance areas  
  7. Ensuring the performance areas are running to schedule   
  8. Liaising with Street Performers  
  9. Keeping tally of approximate audience figures per show 

 

Street Events Flying Squad – Rate £9.90 per hour plus holiday pay

All applicants must be available to work from 03 to 28 August  

  1. Be ambassadors for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 
  2. Working to Street Team Manager 
  3. Facilitating public safety within the event areas e.g. preventing trip hazards 
  4. Monitoring crowd levels and keeping thoroughfares open  
  5. Keeping the event areas clean and free of litter 
  6. Helping with the movement branded equipment 
  7. Dealing with public enquiries/feedback – answering questions and providing assistance 
  8. Covering breaks and supporting staff in other areas.

 

Person specification for all roles 

Essential  

  • Capacity to work the full run throughout August 
  • Experience of working with the public in a busy environment.  
  • Effective communication skills; tact, diplomacy, assertiveness, & confidence when dealing with crowds 
  • Excellent time keeping and the ability to prioritise tasks in an effective way. 
  • Ability to use initiative and be proactive and professional in a busy environment. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Edinburgh and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. 

Desirable  

  • First Aid qualification (with valid certificate) 
  • Experience of event/stage/festival management/artist liaison 
  • An understanding of manual handling techniques.

OUR TEMPORARY EVENT TEAMS 

Unique Events employ dedicated and enthusiastic temporary staff each year to help deliver some of Scotland’s best events, including short-term staff during August and longer-term staff from June/July to February.  

 We require hard working, dedicated staff, with an interest in the arts and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.  

 In return you will gain fantastic experience at the heart of Scotland’s event industry and access into long-term career opportunities, whilst having loads of fun and the opportunity to make valuable friends and contacts.  

Due to the relative shortness of some contracts, relevant experience would be looked on favourably.
