Mid-summer weekend 2007 saw the arrival of The Outsider Festival, a unique new festival experience combining music, comedy, film and debate along with a celebration of landscape, outdoor activities and the environment, all set in the beautiful surroundings of Rothiemurchus Forest, Aviemore.
The Outsider has a strong environmental agenda celebrating the landscape and the great outdoors. Uniquely we encourage festival goers to leave the main festival arena, explore the surrounding environment and sign up to some of the 75 local outdoor activity providers in the area. Rock climbing, canoeing, wildlife trails and food foraging are just some of the activities on offer before returning to the main arena for festival entertainment. |
A full festival programme in the main arena provided Outsiders with music, comedy, environmental debate (hosted by Lord David Steel & Kirsty Wark), feature film, lectures and alternative music in the Theatre, Chill-Out and Club bar tents.
The Outsider also created brand new sporting events in the form of ‘The UK’s Most Beautiful 12k Run’ and Mountain Bike Trails with new 25k, 45k and 65k world class mountain bike trails through the stunning Cairngorm Mountains. |
